Why are people so concerned with what people here think of them? It's a friggin' messageboard. There is way too much insecurity here - from everyone.

Right. You've claimed before you don't care what people think about you, blah, blah, blah. I wonder if it's partially a response to what I wrote about you being the most disliked person I've ever encountered. I personally don't care that much what people think either, as I've intentionally been confrontational and argumentative here since day one. But there is a certain extent that I do care, and I'll explain. Erik had a good point about you:

It's not about trying to be loved. You seem like someone who wants to have real discussions, but the problem is, you're so reviled in so many circles(again, it crosses diva-fan boundaries), that conversations with you turn into attacks against YOU and not what you're saying. That's why I say you're an ineffective communicator, because good discourse isn't just about facts and whether you can back them up, it's also about how you PRESENT your opinions and your personality and your feel for the general tone of the board and who you're discussing with. You're poor at the latter. You can see that from people's comments here and by examining past interactions. Even with the two people you interact with most here, you can detect a level of disrespect on their part and exasperation for you--and that's a PROBLEM if your goal is to engage in effective and enlightening discourse, which I believe it is. If that's your primary goal, you need to be in part(again, you don't have to try and be loved) concerned with how the community views you, at least whether or not they have a certain level of respect for you and will give your opinions the time of day. Otherwise you're just going to continue to hit walls and not live up to your potential.

(um, probably another colossal waste of time, but like I said misguided compassion lies beneath the profound contempt)

Whitney masterpiece I'm feeling at the moment: God Bless America, live in NYC in 1999. In this patriotic sequel to her legendary SSB performance, Whitney does what she does best: Combines earth-shattering power, clarity, and range, with a torn-from-the-gut gospelicious flair.
