Since I generally can't stand fetushead (Throwback is my cut though), I actively ignored his little show. But, I did download the Bouncy cameo bits and she really should just stop trying to dance. Now. And it was very awkward because they didn't really touch or show any intimacy -- she would rest her head on his shoulder and the rest of her bod was just out there. And he should have lipsynched or something, 'cause that barely audible singing wasn't doing it for me either.
I watched
Their Eyes Were Watching God
and the first hour was tedious and way more slow than it had to be. I feel Oprah kind of dropped the ball with this adaptation, there was more to the book than a "love story" and I would have like to see them explore that more. I don't think Halle is a good actress at all (although she wasn't as bad as I've seen her be in here). She has a good presence, but it wasn't right for this role. She's too much of a delicate flower to really portray an empowered sexy woman in my mind. Overall it had it's moments, but I wasn't moved by this in any way (and I came in with really no expectations). Oh, and I know who my next crush is gonna be; and no, it's not overrated Michael Ealy.
ETA: Re:
Top Model 4
. Is Tiffany the "beer on my weave" girl from last season, I forget? Anyway, if she is, she's way too hoodratish to make it. Good story, good body, ghetto face. It would never work out.
Also, I think I've had my quoto met for 2005 of reality tv tragic backstory. This after catching up on Top Model, Making the Band, Road to Stardom, American Idol... I can no longer feel sorry for the "my mother's a crack whore, and singing/rapping/modeling is my ticket out of the hood" or "I have lupus/am going blind within the next 30 years/I AM GOING TO DIE soon" or any "all my life I've had to fight"s or "everyone hated me in high school/nobody believes in me"s (And don't you dare pull a Wendy Pepper and get all "a mother can be anything they want to be" bullshit). Get over it and get a real job. And can there be a black contestant on a reality show that wasn't hustlin' and gettin' beat by their father or comin' up from the skreet just before the audition? Forget about the "token black bitch" stereotype, this is the new epidemic. And "last gated community in New York" Kelle doesn't count, 'cause that's at the other end of nerveracking.
... and breathe.
Introducing Crush of the Week
Matthew Buckner
This devout Christian and Orlando native made it to the top 3 this past week on Missy Elliott's reality series
Road To Stardom
. He tore up the spot in his final performance of an original song about going out to the clubs but not wanting to go home with any ladies. You know what that means. Shh!
