This is the one, baby. A truly timeless song(with quite the provocative lyric)where her voice just soars and turns it into a masterpiece! This is a great example of how she sings a song "straight"(much has been made of the "other" version) yet it still drips with heart and soul. Love it!

These downloads are a must! (copy and paste!)

First, a live video performance of SAMLFY from the Tonight Show. Simply amazing!! Joan Rivers was subbing for Johnny Carson here. At the end of the file, there's an interview segment where Joan asks Whitney some questions, helped out by, (of all people!) the comedian Gallagher. Virtuoso. Beautiful. Magnetic. Amazing!

Then, we'll fast forward a few years with a brief video file of Whitney singing the song on her MLIYL tour. She changes it up a little bit and the result is tantalizing.

I posted this a couple of weeks ago, but am posting again, especially for Karly. It's a very rare remix of SAMLFY that is a laidback interpretation, featuring an acoustic guitar. The FUG remix:

Whitney masterpiece I'm feeling at the moment: God Bless America, live in NYC in 1999. In this patriotic sequel to her legendary SSB performance, Whitney does what she does best: Combines earth-shattering power, clarity, and range, with a torn-from-the-gut gospelicious flair.
