Of all the songs Julia recommended, my favourite one is ‘Mademoiselle chante le blues “ (from her debut album). There is a hint of naivety in her voice that I find endearing in this recording. It’s a voice that is not quite there yet, but has potential to be – and it does in her later recordings.

Have you heard her more recent renditions of that song? I prefer the way she sings it live (and she sings it a bit differently every time).

I did purchase her greatest hits - Rien Ne S'Arrete because there were a few live recordings (expensive btw because it's an import), but also for 'La Vie En Rose 'which brings back a lot of memories for me (my grandmother has an old 45 that she use to play over and over again on her player).

You have La vie en rose on your Rien ne s'arrete cd?? Hmmm... How is that possible? Is this some special Canadian edition? :? What are the rest of the tracks than?

I am thrilled you got a Patty album, of course, but I must recommend you her LIVE albums. As you said yourself, her real greatness is on the stage. I would recommend Carnets de Scene (1992) - jazzy mood, has all her early hits, and Live 2000, an amazing double live CD. I couldn't listen literally to nothing else for 6 months straight...

I’ve read on a few message boards that Patricia Kaas’ next recording is suppose to be an album of all English recordings – for Julia’s sake, I hope not.

LOL what boards did you read??... C'est pas vrai!
Could those be old messages talking about the Piano Bar album? It's the one with If you go away and other classics she sings in English. The album is a soundtrack of a movie she starred in, it's a concept album really. I'm fond of it, even though I more than agree with you that she should stick to French.

She hasn't began working on another album yet, well she's still on tour (and she MIGHT add Canadian dates so I'll keep you posted ;) ), but you can check out her latest live album. This time she goes rock, and that album truly ROCKS.
(Just try d/l "Toute la musique que j'aime" to get a taste...)

Anyway, what other songs do you enjoy other than Mademoiselle chante...?

Just like an alligator / I have no self control / You're what I want for dinner / Can't we just be alone
I WANT A CHEAP THRILL / YOU'RE JUST A CHEAP THRILL
I wanna make you mine / 'Cause I'm burning from the inside

Move like an elevator / Inside a hotel room / Just want to be inside you / Just want to come to soon
I WANT A CHEAP THRILL / YOU'RE JUST A CHEAP THRILL
I wanna make you mine / I want a soul to steal / Maybe that would bring you 'round / Just want something to feel / Gonna blow you're pretty house down.
