Dav, that's hot! I wish I had a fake ID because all the cool live acts only show up at the 21+ clubs. Now, does punk even exist anymore? Here, it fornicated with electroclash and birthed a lot of still-born bastards.
I DO love me some kd and Me'shell, though! "Ms. Chatelaine" still tops my list of kd lang songs, and Me'shell's cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Waterfall" sure gets me wet.
As for gospel, has anyone heard Kiki Shear's (sp?) duet w/ her mom? It got major play in L.A., and I loved every SECOND of it. Basically, it was a TIGHTLY constructed interplay between mother/daughter. "The Lord has been kind (The Lord has been kind)...been so wonderful (so wonderful)...he is AWE-SO-O-O-OME....(etc.)"
When my family and I left Eastgate Christian Fellowship, I entered into the world for the first time. I sank deep into depression and lost all hope after being continuously judged and ridiculed by both children and adults because of my medical problems. With nothing left to live for, I cried out to God one last time before planning to take a final plunge. In a short amount of time, He answered my prayer when I heard a song by Mariah Carey, which is titled "My All." Mariah wrote this song through her personal experience of feeling alone, which is exactly what I had felt for much of my life. Finally, for the first time in my life, I had connected with someone who really understood me.
